The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) was passed in 2003 with unanimous support from both parties in Congress. The purpose of the act was to "provide for the analysis of the incidence and effects of prison rape in Federal, State, and local institutions and to provide information, resources, recommendations and funding to protect individuals from prison rape."  (Prison Rape Elimination Act, 2003).


ZERO TOLERANCE

The Worth Center maintains a zero tolerance towards all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment. Sexual misconduct among residents and by staff ( as well as volunteers and contractors) towards residents is strictly prohibited.


  • ALL RESIDENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE FREE FROM ALL FORMS OF SEXUAL ABUSE AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT FROM OTHER RESIDENTS AS WELL AS STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, AND CONTRACTORS.
  • ALL RESIDENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE FREE FROM RETALIATION FROM REPORTING ANY INCIDENTS OF SEXUAL ABUSE OR SEXUAL HARASSMENT.
  • ALL RESIDENTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO TIMELY MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT FOR ANY INCIDENT OF SEXUAL ABUSE.

What is Sexual Abuse? Unwanted sexual contact with another Resident or any sexual contact with a staff member, volunteer, or contractor.

What is Sexual Harassment? Repeated sexual comments or gestures.

"All allegations of sexual abuse that involve potentially criminal behavior will be turned over to the Allen Co. Sheriff's Office for criminal investigation"


Anyone can report an allegation or suspicion of sexual abuse or sexual harassment / Reporting can be anonymous

All Worth Center Staff are mandatory reporters and any allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment will be investigated.
